Still Life Assessment

Today I started using my pre-assessments for fourth grade. This is a class I am not including in my SLO's this year, but I am running through the assessments anyways to see how they work. I am giving them two days to draw from the still life, and I didn't give them the rubric for this because I want it to be based purely off of what they currently know how to do. Oh, and here is my finished class door too!

  1. It's always interesting to see pre and post-assessment results isn't it? I always found they informed me as much about the success of my teaching as my student's success in new learning!

    1. Yes! And so far, they are acing their pre-assessments! That is, they're bombing them! (Which isn't a bad thing...come June when they have their post-assessments, they should pass with flying colors!) I've now had these students for two years and I can't believe the basic art ideas that they have forgotten over the summer! Something as simple as using a horizon line is something that has been forgotten on at least 75% of the drawings I've seen so far. I'll be posting some of the completed pre-assessment still life drawings tomorrow after they have their second work day.

    1. I just bought regular spray paint from Walmart. I think I used a total of 3 cans to spray everything that is on that still life display...I really loaded it on there (had to cover up the labels ;) ). I used two bottles of Valspar White Matte spray paint and one can of 98 cent Walmart spray paint, matte finish also.
